At the ASID Design Summit on February 24th, Shelby Girard, a current student enrolled in Harrington’s Masters of Arts in Interior Design (MAID) program was announced one of two winners of the 2011 ASID IL Richard A Smith Memorial scholarship!

Shelby’s mixed-use high rise concept won her the contest. Her concept centered around the idea of balance: rhythm and symmetry as expressed through lighting strategies, patterns, layout and well-rounded programming. See the concept below!

Shelby shared, “It was nice to have the opportunity to show my work outside of Harrington, especially when so much time and energy goes into a project. This competition was unique in that it called for an already completed school project so I was able to submit the work I did for Studio B in the MAID program.”

The other winner of the scholarship was Carol Way Cisco from the Illinois Institute of Art. Congrats to both Shelby and Carol for the honor of winning such a competitive scholarship!
