All American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Illinois student members: don’t miss out on the 2012 ASID Richard A. Smith Memorial Scholarship!  Details are below:

Eligibility: Applicant must be an ASID Illinois Student Member in good standing. Projects must have been completed while enrolled in an Interior Design Program. Only one project per student member can be entered.

Entry Deadline: All entries must be received by 4:30pm, Wednesday January 11, 2012 at the Illinois Chapter of ASID office. Late entries will NOT be accepted.

Judging & Awards: Projects will be judged by a panel of ASID Professional and Allied members from the Illinois Chapter of ASID. The Chapter will award one (1) Winner the prize of $1000, and two (2) Honorable Mentions an award of $100 each. The finalists will be notified prior to the 2012 Design Summit and will be granted no-charge admittance to the 2012 Design Summit, held on Thursday, February 23, 2012. Winners will be announced during Design Summit 2012 and will also be honored at the 2012 Celebration of Design Awards Event. The winning project will also be featured in the electronic Chapter newsletter. Projects cannot have been entered in a previous year. The ASID Illinois Chapter reserves the right not to award in every category.

How to Enter: Any project (residential or commercial) that fits the criteria and has been completed by the student member while in an Interior Design Program can be entered (i.e. an existing project). Each entry must include the following:

  • Up to three boards, but not less than two boards, not exceeding 24” x 36” in size.
  • Floor plan with appropriate labeling to show design intent in either 1/8” or ¼” scale.
  • Two of the following: an axonometric, perspective, reflected ceiling plan, elevations in either ¼” or ½” scale with appropriate labeling and/or rendering to convey design intent.
  • Finish samples, Materials, and/or Furniture specifications appropriately labeled that convey design intent.
  • Entry Form(s) attached to the back of all boards submitted.
  • Digital copy of entire project electronically submitted with project on a disc.

 

Notes:

  • Entrant names can, but do not have to, appear on the front of the Boards.
  • Drawings can be hand-drafted or computer drafted.
  • Entries can be picked up in the ASID Office after February 27, 2012; projects not picked up by June 1, 2012 will be disposed of.
